Keyhole Plaques

Maybe it was the wine

We were strolling the antiques fair in Avignon when we met a man selling replacement escutcheons—you know, those tiny inlaid pieces surrounding the keyholes in antique dressers. We loved them. And since we sell so many key accents, why not keyholes? And the more wine we drank, the better we liked the idea.

Okay, there may have been wine involved when we decided to turn the tiny original escutcheons shown here into over sized wall plaques. And, of course, it took awhile to get them exactly right (about the time it took to get over our hangovers). But, when you compare the originals to our solid bone versions, you’ll appreciate what a big idea it turned out to be.

Our interpretation of the original
